Songspot metal is an obvious search if you like short, violent openings. A palm-muted downstroke or a click of a double kick can identify a record before a lyric exists.
There is no metal filter and no metal genre tag in the current catalogue. Heavy guitar, when it appears, is usually filed under Rock. This page does not pretend a metal-only playlist is sitting behind a hidden button.
Why metal clues are sharp when they show up
High-gain guitar has a grain you can hear in a tenth of a second: tight mute, open chord, or a squeal that was never meant to be the downbeat. Drums often announce themselves as a click or a blast rather than a roomy backbeat.
That helps until two songs share the same guitar tone. Then you still need tempo, vocal timbre or the space around the kit.
What you can do on the current board
Use Classic plus the 1970s–1990s tabs if you want older hard rock and proto-metal textures. The 2010s default is a poor metal room because that decade’s playable pool leans pop and hip-hop.
If a round gives you a clean piano or a trap hi-hat, reroll. The game is not broken. You asked for metal and the mixed catalogue answered with something else.
Do not force a metal label onto every loud guitar
AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and a lot of radio rock use distortion without being metal. Guessing “the heaviest title you know” from a crunchy guitar is how you miss the actual track.
If a dedicated metal pool is added later, it should mix substyles. A page of four identical breakdowns would be a dull quiz.
